It’s A Kinda Magic | The Potion Room At Cutter & Squidge, 20 Brewer Street, London
Cutter & Squidge have been a favourite of ours since day one, after one bite of their biskies we were well and truly hooked. They’ve now delved into the world of mystical experimentation for their new project, The Potion Room – an immersive afternoon tea held downstairs in their hidden lair.
There’s many an afternoon tea to be found in London but not many as distinctive and fun as this. Once led to The Potion Room, draped in a cloak and handed a magic wand, the hilarious Potion Master conducts a School of Alchemy in the wizard’s classroom. Think test tubes, bubbling cauldrons and magical mysterious ingredients such as ‘unicorn’s tears’ and the ‘passion of a mountain virgin’.
The food itself is fairly classic – think roast chicken sandwiches, mini pies and our personal highlight, warm rock cakes served with clotted cream and jam. All washed down with lashings of both usual and unusual loose-leaf tea, coffees, or pumpkin juice plus alcoholic potions are an option for an extra charge. We warn you, it’ll be tough, but do try to save room for the surprise at the end – you’ll kick yourself if you don’t. The Potion Room afternoon tea is in no way associated with the world of Harry Potter but we reckon fans of the franchise will love it.
