The Diner, 18 Ganton Street, London, W1
I paid my third visit to The Diner in Soho on Sunday. Wish I’d known about it’s existence before, it’s a fab place for a shopping pit-stop, especially as there are branches in Camden, Angel, Kensal Rise and Shoreditch. As Ade’s sister said ‘Why didn’t I know about this place?!’ It’s a brilliant place whether you only want a cocktail or authentic Brooklyn Beer at the bar or a slap-up US style feast in one of the booths. But this was the first time that I went without Ade, which he told me off for when I got home. We celebrated our engagement there in May, which was apt as he proposed at the Ace Hotel in New York (home to the famed Breslin restaurant).
The prices are very reasonable, and there is so much choice, our favourites are the hot dog with grilled onions, for just £5.50, and the Diner Fries (cajun spiced) are so addictive, we always fight over the last one. Ade’s favourite is the Californian Burger, with Monterey cheese and guacamole and the cheese fries. Love the shakes, next time am going to try a Coke Float.
Being in The Diner is like being back in America, everything about it oozes NYC cool, from the vibe, food, cocktails and especially the staff.
