Tsuru Bankside

I am no longer at Katsu Curry Virgin.

Ade and I had to venture back into work today, so we decided to cheer ourselves up at lunchtime and treat ourselves. And as part of my new plan to visit  new places and to stop going back to the same restaurants all the time, we popped into Tsuru.

@KSalty had been raving about it since her move to Bankside, so I thought I’d see what all the fuss is about, plus I had never ever tried Katsu before. Am not a big fan of breaded meat.

I liked the fact you can choose between chicken breast or thigh, always more of a thigh woman myself, and am pleased to see it in more places, I noticed Chilango were using it the other day.

My Katsu

This is going to sound really bad, but the first thing I thought when I tasted it, was how much the sauce reminded me of a certain microwave prawn curry that I used to love when I was younger. I mentioned this to Ade and he knew exactly what I meant, although he used to have the chicken one. Now this isn’t a bad thing, I loved those curries.

I think I have been converted, and Tsuru was lovely, smiley, friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. I don’t think I shall have one at lunch again, I could quite easily just slip underneath my desk now and have a snooze…

UPDATE: We have since been back. Several times in fact, it has become a special treat when work gets a bit too much.
