Charity has never tasted so good | Mo’Shroom Byron burger for Movember

XX

Remember, remember Byron for Movember!

Roll on November, that’s what I say! Not because it’s my son’s birthday, not because it’s only a month before Christmas, but because it means it’s time for another special Byron Movember burger. Since 2010 Byron have teamed up with Movember, the global charity raise money and awareness to help beat prostate and testicular cancer. So far Byron alone have contributed over £120,000.

Before I talk about Fred Smith‘s newest masterpiece – here is the important bit, If you want to help raise even more cash for Movember then here’s how, for every ‘Mo’Shroom buger sold in November 50p will go to the charity. Plus if you buy their limited edition Movember t-shirt (between 1st-30th November), they’ll donate another £3 to Movember (order yours from their shop). And that’s not all! Register at movember.com and if you raise at least £25 in sponsorship they will give you a FREE hamburger (or main salad) EVERYDAY from 8th-17th November, between 3pm and 6pm.

Fred Smith, the former head chef at The Admiral Codrington is regarded for creating some of the best burgers London. In fact I’ve read ‘When Fred Smith launches a burger, you go.’ And it seems that Byron have played a blinder when bringing in Fred as their head of food development. His October special Le Smokey, has officially been named as their most popular off-menu option ever.

The Mo ‘Shroom is a 6oz Byron beef patty laden with Portobello ‘shrooms (baked not fried), Emmenthal cheese, crispy ‘shatter in the mouth’ streaky bacon, shredded iceberg, red onion and cep aioli (made with blanched garlic, cep mushrooms and tarragon). Saff said it reminded her of the mushroom burger at Short Order in LA, and the best Byron burger she’s ever had. On the evening we previewed this beauty we were also treated to some off menu ‘posh’ cheesy fries, triple cooked with American cheddar and aged parmesan, amazing. I really hope they make it onto the menu proper! All this was washed down with their own Byron Lager, a US-inspired lager brewed with American hops.

Like I said… Roll on November!
