NYC chef returns for a stint at St John hotel
April Bloomfield, executive chef and co-owner of NYC’s The Breslin, Spotted Pig and the John Dory Oyster Bar will return to the UK this October for a two-day residency at St John hotel. Her visit coincides with the UK publication of her acclaimed cookbook A Girl and Her Pig.
April will be working alongside Fergus Henderson of St John to create her menus, and will cook two lunches and two dinners over the course of 30th and 31st October.
Her career began in Birmingham before moving to London, where she worked at Kensington Place, Bibendum, and the Brackenbury. From there, April went on to work at the River Café, before spending the summer of 2003 in California at the legendary Chez Panisse. In February 2004, April and co-owner Ken Friedman opened the Spotted Pig to much acclaim, bringing America its first taste of the British gastropub movement. We dined at The Breslin for our engagement meal and it was incredible, we highly recommend you get a taste of her cooking while she’s back.
Reservations will open on 1st September on 0203 301 8069.

Probiotic chocolate? Yes! Really
A guilt free chocolate bar that loves your tummy…. Are you joking? The guys at ‘ohso’ aren’t!
ohso probiotic chocolate bars (www.ohsolovesyourtummy.com), made from 53% Belgian chocolate are proven* to be three times more effective at delivering your daily probiotics than a yoghurt drink and in our opinion, taste better too. And at only 72 calories a bar there’s no reason to feel guilty!
The bars have no added dairy, gluten and are wheat free (yet still delicious), each individually wrapped bar is designed to provide you (and your family – if you must share) with the daily amount of probiotic to help support your digestive health and help improve immunity.
The science bit… *Based on the survival rates of probiotics passing through the stomach to the small intestine, it was found that the survival rates in the probiotic yoghurt matrix were three times lower than in chocolate . Source: Ghent University, Belgium
Available in 7-bar weekly packs, ohso lovers nationwide can set up a free home delivery service online and have their chocolate bars delivered directly to their doorsteps. Also available from Harvey Nichols Food Halls, Ocado The Nutri Centre and health food stores and independent retailers nationwide. £3.99 for a pack of 7, 13.5g bars.

Sweets for my sweet…
www.facebook.com/BarrattSweets
Barratt have launched a new British themed sweet treat inspired by the Olympic Games. British Mix, an assortment of fruit flavoured soft gums in iconic, quintessentially British shapes including red telephone boxes, bulldogs, tea-pot, guardsman and Big Ben. And like our Olympians, they have struck gold with these fruit gums…
Toffee fans across the country can now rejoice as the original softer eating toffee bar, Highland Toffee, arrives back in store. One mouthful took Ade back to his childhood when he used to buy it from the ice-cream man. Dating back to the early 1900’s (before even Ade’s time!) and renowned for its creamy and indulgent flavour, what became known as Highland Toffee is now one of Scotland’s oldest, and the nation’s most-loved, sweets.
Barratt’s British Mix is available now, priced £1.35 (RRP) from all good retailers.

We can’t wait for the coconut milk ice cream.
Available in five different flavours: Natural, Raw Chocolate, Mixed Berry, Mango and Pineapple. COYO retails in the UK at £4.99 for 400g, £3.49 for 250g and £1.99 for single serving pots.

Bacardi goes smokey
The Bacardi family’s Master-Blenders spent five years developing Oakheart to ensure they got the recipe just right and trialled it in key UK regions before launching it nationally this month. Straight from the heart of charred oak barrels, Bacardi Oakheart is a smooth, oaky spirit with a hint of smokiness. Will go nicely with a summer BBQ.
RRP £18 for 70cl or £23.00 for 1ltr
