They claim you can prepare a 5 star, restaurant quality pasta dish in just 5 minutes. And with the backing of some of the industry’s biggest hitters – Prue Leith, Giles Coren and William Sitwell (who just may have a little extra time on his hands at the moment) – who are we to disagree? So here goes…

It’s Bubble in a box, it’s Bubble in a cardboard box

The meals come in insulated packaging alongside chilled ice packs so if you’re not in, they can happily sit around until you get home (even less of an issue in this weather). As soon as the package arrived and was unpacked, we couldn’t believe just how easy the whole process was. All ingredients are clearly marked up and colour coded with a clear recipe card to follow – simples. Not that Bubble, our cat was too bothered by all that – he just wanted to get in the box! *Cat not included.

We tried a different dish each from the large weekly menu. A cheeseless Pappardelle with pulled pork ragu and cavolo nero for me – and a Chorizo ravioli with sage butter and a grissini crumb for Ade. They recommend you order at least one dish each – and as we tried two different pastas, that meant using more pans than expected – never mind it was Ade’s turn to wash up. But as there’s nowt to prep there was very little else to clean up.

That’s two fresh pasta dishes for as little as £3!

I can eat (and like to eat) a lot of pasta (brilliant when on Slimming World) so I was a tad worried my portion wouldn’t be satisfying enough. It was, although I could have done with a higher sauce to pasta ratio but that’s just a personal preference. Still, it was delicious but Ade’s rich and buttery ravioli was the quickest and easiest to ‘cook’ and he benefited from my unused pot of parmesan to up the cheese factor. The chorizo filling had just the right level of spicy kick, the crumbled grissini added a little texture. But it was the sage butter that brought the whole dish together, it’s amazing how the simplest of ingredients can make all the difference.
