Food, Food, Music And Food | WIN Tickets To Tom Kerridges’ Pub In The Park!

Tom Kerridge’s Pub in the Park is undoubtably one of our favourite foodie festivals. Firstly, the locations are great – especially the ridiculously picturesque Higginson Park, Marlow. The food offerings are all top class too (totalling 18 Michelin Stars across the whole Pub in the Park tour, to be precise) with not a dud dish in sight. At £5 a pop per dish you can easily and affordably sample a lot of great cooking from Heston Blumenthal’s The Hinds Head right through to Angela Hartnett‘s Cafe Murano. The whole festival is really chilled and friendly, unlike some of the larger central London foodie events. It’s as if Tom Kerridge’s genuine warmth relaxed persona has rubbed off on the all the attendees – even queueing for the food is almost pleasurable due to the chattiness of the other guests (that and the free VIP ticket holders’ prosecco.)

Then there’s the bands, this year at Marlow we were treated to some hits from one of my best-loved bands, The Bluetones and All Saints who are still knocking out brilliant tunes. Still to hit the stage at Pub in the Park 2019 (to name just a few) are Basement Jaxx, Razorlight, Tom Odell and for those old enough to remember, Rick Astley. All Saints were absolutely brilliant, we were transported back to 1997 – just wish we’d worn our combats! Top tip: When the bands are playing the queues for food and drink are way shorter.

Last month we headed to Marlow for the second year running and although the weather was less than desirable (typical mid-May drizzle), we had a top night feasting on chicken tikka pie from Sindhu, breadcrumbed corn beef hash from The Hardwick and of course, that scotch egg from The Hinds Head. Be warned, if you’ve got your eye on one of the most popular stands such as The Hand & Flowers and The Coach and The Hinds Head, don’t leave it til the last-minute as they can sell out pretty quick.

The smaller, more independent, produce stalls can sometimes get lost amongst the pop-up pubs, big corporates and other attractions. But make sure you grab a site map find time to have a mooch around as you can pick up anything from small-batch gin, homemade brownies, chutneys and juices – what’s not to love?
