Shhh, Don’t Tell The Haters! | Secret Marmite Menu At Bill’s Restaurants

If you hate Marmite, you may as well stop reading now. If, like me, you love Marmite then I have a not so secret secret to whisper in your shell like. Bill’s Restaurants have teamed up with Marmite to serve a limited edition breakfast menu. There, I’ve said it. Now you know. But get your skates on as it’s only available until the 31st January and only at Bill’s restaurants in Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol, Birmingham and all sites in London.

The full Marmitey monty

As instructed, I had to say the secret code to access the secret menu. ‘Spread the love’ I said to the waitress under my breath. She gave me a knowing smile and led me to my seat and with a subtle wink she dropped a little Marmite pot shaped menu onto the table.

Cute cutout…

I went for the full package, the Marmite Mary and Marmite Rarebit (£12) – well, I was suffering a little from the night before. First to arrive was the Marmite Mary – Bill’s take on the classic alcoholic breakfast cocktail, made with Chivas Regal 12 year-old, tomato juice, cream, lemon and a special Marmite reduction, served with a stick of celery and slice of lemon. This certainly blew away the cobwebs and set me up for the Marmite Rarebit.

Ooh, look at that egg go!

An indulgent (and surprisingly filling) mix of Marmite, crème fraîche, egg, English mustard and mature cheddar served on two slices of toasted bloomer with a couple of poached eggs. Loved the way the soft Marmitey crème fraîche was covered by a crisp cheddar topping. And there’s nothing more satisfying than popping those perfectly cooked poached eggs and watching the soft yolks dribble onto the plate – the original food porn, I just wished I’d filmed it.

Available from 8am, the Marmite menu will be available all-day – so perfect for breakfast, brunch, brinner or even dinfast (ok, ok, I made the last one up).
