Fancy something sweet and a little light-hearted this V Day? The infamous googly-eyed teacakes served at Hoi Polloi‘s afternoon tea have had a bit of a Valentine’s Day makeover. They’re said to be great washed down with a Kaffir & Loathing (£9.50) cocktail – a heady mix of tequila, mescal and Campari, sounds good to us.

No set menus, Hoi Polloi is open all day this Valentine’s and apparently, their pastry chefs are creating a special shared pudding, this may or may not be on the menu, so make sure you ask. And if you really want to push the boat out, make a night of it and book at room at the Ace Hotel next door. It’s where Ade proposed to me, well, the one in New York and not on Valentine’s Day.
