Scott Collins & Yianni Papoutsis aka MEATLiquor, Grilled!
Scott Collins & Yianni Papoutsis are behind the amazingly popular MEATLiquor selling the best burgers in London, with queues out the door and down the street. They started out with a burger van in South London, then #MEATEASY above a pub in New Cross. MEATLiquor is above a strip club and below a car park, they couldn’t have found a more perfect spot. Read our review here. If you want to feel like you’re in an episode of True Blood (minus the vampires), get yourself down there.

If money was no object, where would you open a restaurant and what would it be like?
SCOTT New York. It’d be like the Atlantic Bar and Grill at it’s prime. It would have a helipad and a shark pool AND I’d be allowed in.
YIANNI Somewhere in a desert, on a highway, in the States and up a mountain. It’d be open 24 hours
If you had to eat the same meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
SCOTT Something really old, bone in from the back of the Meat Fridge at Goodman with lobster mash and honeyed carrots. It’d have to be served by Dave Strauss himself… Him being unhappy would make me happy
YIANNI A buffet in Vegas.
What do you keep on your bedside table?
SCOTT Water, a copy of the bible and pepper spray
YIANNI My phone. And a claw hammer. (I live in Peckham)
When is the last time you had a McDonald’s?
SCOTT We were in Gothenburg over the midsummer’s weekend this year to celebrate Heath Ball’s (The Red Lion & Sun, Highgate Village) birthday. He had neglected to do any restaurant research. Everyone from the city decamps to the coast for the weekend, every restaurant of note was closed except the golden arches. We had to queue for an hour, it wasn’t my happiest moment
YIANNI I’m sucking down a double cheeseburger right now.
What is your career Plan B?
SCOTT Go back to professional breakdancing.
YIANNI This IS my career Plan B…
What’s your favourite thing from MEATLiquor to cook at home?
SCOTT I don’t cook at home
YIANNI Does a Martini count?
Is there any food that you can’t stand?
SCOTT Chicken feet
YIANNI Lutefisk (Norwegian cod abomination people attempt to eat at Christmas)
Do you have any reoccurring dreams?
SCOTT Yup. The same one I think a lot of people have, you’re young, in front of your whole class at school, and you find yourself fully clothed.
YIANNI Nothing printable.
Who would be your ideal dinner date?
SCOTT Depends on the day of the week and what mood I’m in
YIANNI It’d have to be a four-way: Ernest Hemingway, George Orwell, Hunter S Thompson and myself.
What is the one object you can’t do without?
SCOTT Gaffer tape
YIANNI My phone. Or maybe my claw hammer.

Nice interview and love the photo!
Thanks, it’s been a long time coming, it’s been a mission to get the answers! The pic is actually a screengrab from a video, they have no pics together.
