Franny’s Pop Up, 11-13 Frith Street, W1D 4RB.

Franny’s is a fab little pop up Italiany eatery in Soho, on the old Bertorelli site, serving a great easy menu. Named after a 1920’s Brazilian lap dancer, also an abbreviation of one of my middle names. Yes, I have two. I particularly liked the single digit prices, and the happy hour between 4-7 is a bargain. Grab yourself a passionfruit Mojio and sit back and watch the people go by. We went on a quiet Sunday afternoon, from the chaos of wedding dress shopping on Oxford Street, Franny’s was a welcome relief. Yes, this means I went without Ade, wanted to treat my patient bridesmaids.

Our waiter, Pedro, was full of recommendations and made sure we were well looked after. I started with the avocado, olive oil with chilli flakes on handmade toasted bread, just £3! Who knew such a simple dish could taste so gorgeous, I have since tried to recreate this at home, it tasted nothing like Franny’s version. Will have to go back. Next was grilled sea bass fillets with baby roast potatoes and Roma tomato and chilli salsa, everything was cooked to perfection and I soon polished it off. They do great looking pizzas also, and so reasonably priced at £7.

The bridesmaids had the antipasti board, mussels arabiata, and then the ‘Franny’s favourite’: Sardinian seafood fregola pasta. The menu is small and simple here, reminded me of my trip to Puglia, nice, fresh and easy dishes, and at great prices. We had no room for desserts, only for another passionfruit Mojio, well, it had been a long day.
