We Love Food’s Best (And Worst) Bits Of 2014

So, it’s that time of year where we sit back and reflect over the past twelve months. Some of the best things we’ve eaten we can still taste as clear as day when we think of them, it doesn’t get better than that. But as usual, we wish that we’d had more time (and cash) to eat more, but there’s always next year… 2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We EatThe Scran & Scallie: THAT Scran & Scallie steak pie.

Tapas Revolution: Carrilleras pork cheek braised in Pedro Ximénez sherry. Of course because we love it, it’s now disappeared from the menu.

Min Jiang: THOSE Smoked jasmine ribs, wok fried French beans with minced chicken and the Legendary Beijing duck.

Polpetto: All of it. But mostly chicken oysters, cannellini and watercress and beef shin strozzapreti. Plus the staff are the best.

The Palomar: The very special special of Merguez sausages and tagliatelle with peppers and tomatoes. We fell head over heels for this place.

Señor Ceviche: The signature Señor Ceviche dish – a tastebud explosion. 2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We Eat Jackson + Rye: Shrimp and grits and of course the Slab bacon – we just had to return.

Ergon, Skiathos: Lemon glazed pork chops – some of the best food we ate in Skiathos turned out to be in a chain restaurant.

Tredwells: Chorizo jam with charred bread and Pulled pork belly, ginger and apple sliders. Love.

Patty & Bun: Brisket tots – bring ’em back!

Spuntino: The Brooklyn toast dessert – incredible.

Flesh & Buns: Korean fried wings and the Crispy piglet belly steamed buns.   2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We EatPizza 1889: The discovery of good pizza within a twenty-minute radius of our house. Beyond exciting.

Polpetto: Not only was the food amazing, but I had a personalised pre-birthday menu.

Orso: An unexpectedly good meal in a very unassuming old restaurant.

Dirty Bones: Possibly one of the biggest surprises of 2014, not just great hot dogs, but good cooking too.

Shangri-la at The Shard: I don’t think we’ve gone on enough about how much we adored our stay.

Pizza Tipi: Summer nights eating pizza by the water in Cardigan, Wales. 2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We Eat The Ritz: Exploring the kitchens in the depths of the Ritz and ‘helping’ to make a chocolate bombe.

Aegean Suites: Chilling in this secluded and beautiful hotel in Greece.

Chef film: Watching the screening of this mouth-watering film and chatting to Jon Favreau afterwards.

Mock Donalds: The first Byron Burger Club was genius, if only McDonald’s tasted like this.

Bar Tozino: Eating DIY pan con tomate in this rustic and authentic Spanish bar on Maltby Street.

Palomar: I think this has to be the happiest a restaurant made us this year.   2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We EatBump Caves: The Bumped G&T is simply the best gin and tonic, ever.

The Jones Family Project: The Saffron Sour was only ever going to be a winner.

Dishoom Kings Cross: The Tanchoi Fix in the Permit Room, dangerous but very tasty. 2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We Eat Casa Negra: The Frozen Margarita Flight – pick and mix cocktails.

Spuntino: The Lemon Aid special – like liquid lemon posset – gorgeous. Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels: Charmes De Kirwan, Margaux Bordeaux, 2007.

The Zetter Townhouse: The Flintlock – complete with fire.   2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We EatBubba Gump: Curiosity got the better of us. Waste of time.

Auberge du Lac: Service massively let this place down.

Duck & Waffle: I am both very ashamed and saddened to say we still haven’t been. Got very close though, had a table booked and everything… 2014 - The Best (And Worst) Bits | We Love Food, It's All We Eat Bobby’s Bar at Bob Bob Ricard: The most beautiful bar in the entire world is gone. Heartbroken.

ES Clubhouse: Bad pizza and worse cocktails.

La Giaconda: It was pretty obvious this place didn’t have much time left.
