Looks like the whole shipping container thing is taking off, first Pizza 1889 and now with a little help from Hooperberg, Meantime have created BeerBox – a pop-up bar at The O2 in Greenwich. The BeerBox officially opened last week with a great performance from US band (and funnymen) We Are Scientists. Meantime and Greenwich go hand in hand, there’s The Union at Royal Hill and The Old Brewery at the Old Royal Naval College, which has a great restaurant.

BeerBox really is a welcome addition to Peninsula Square if you have time to kill, or to settle your legs after climbing the dome. The bar serves Meantime’s core range of beers, as well as the most recent limited editions and seasonal brews.

The Meantime pop-up will also be home to the exclusive Peninsula Pale Ale which will be dispensed using the company’s state of the art Brewery Fresh tank beer concept. Nick Miller, CEO at Meantime says: “Meantime aims to innovate and pioneer with its craft beers and have looked at many options to bring its range to the drinker. With this in mind, we wanted to create an interesting space and experience for our drinkers where they can enjoy modern craft beer in an entertaining environment. The BeerBox provides us with the opportunity to educate consumers about our craft in a fantastic location just minutes from our brewery.”

The BeerBox will be open all year round and with an open top roof terrace above bar level, let’s hope they hold more secret gigs there, Radiohead or Prince next time please!
